Our featured guests in this episode of the Team Lally Radio Show is Lahela Chandler Correa and Ann Hettinger of Aloha Movement Kauai.
Ann Hettinger has been a running coach for kids and adults, as well as a women’s adventure guide over the past 20 years. Currently working on their fourth children’s book, she works with her dear friend Lahela to share the message of Aloha with the world. The books of Aloha focus on lessons as Lahela was raised, and encompass 14 particular lessons from Aloha, such as Aloha is Respect, Aloha is Kindness Aloha is Pono etc. These lessons help strengthen and instill character building values and traits in our students, while embracing the Hawaiian culture.
Lahela Chandler Correa was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i in the Wainiha Valley. Her parents Francis Sr. and Kapeka Chandler were born and raised in Ha’ena and came from large ohana’s (families). Her immediate family consists of 10 brothers, 5 sisters and one half-sister; she is number 13 of all my siblings. Known as “Aunty Aloha”, Lahela’s huge heart, loving smile and welcoming hugs, embodies the very meaning of Aloha.
Together with Ann, they represent the Aloha Movement Kauai, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Our mission is to help preserve, perpetuate and share Aloha with everyone. We are currently working with public elementary schools, charter schools and homeschools to supply Aloha workbooks for those that do not have enough funding available. As Lahela so eloquently states, “Aloha is considered the gift of the Hawaiian people to the world. Please join us and become an Aloha Ambassador today.
